The purpose of this qualification is to develop learners' skills in interpreting in public service contexts. The objective is to qualify bilingual individuals to be able to become professional interpreters and to help existing interpreters to achieve higher levels of qualification. The qualification will develop practical skills in interpreting that will cover law specialisms including the police, court and prison/probation and also test interpreting and translation skills.
