On the 8th September 2019, I will be running the UK Fast City of Salford 10k with friends and family in aid of Brain Tumour Research.

It’s going to be an incredibly proud day for me and my family as I run in memory of my mum, Julie, who we will have sadly lost 10 years ago on the 5th September and Pidda our much loved family friend, who we also lost this year after his own 10 year battle with brain tumours.

When children exhibit behaviour that challenges, it can prove very tough and distressing for those looking after the child. This especially resonates when the child’s behaviour has become a recurrent issue or continues to negatively impact the enjoyment or learning of other children.

Furthermore, when you’re not the child’s parents – in the case of teachers, activity leaders and childcare staff – you’re often left wrestling with another set of difficult questions such as “How do I approach the issue with the child’s parents?”, “What happens if I overstep the mark when intervening?”, or “At what point should I escalate the issue or inform other parents?”.

On a day to day basis, you will find Phil managing, populating, updating and refining our question banks to provide the best possible assessment for our learners. He also supports the production of exam papers; liaises with subject experts; analyses item, paper and qualification performance; and handles assessment-related enquiries from our centres. All in all, he's a busy chap.
